چکیده
Abstract A reliability-based approach is presented to investigate the effects of structural and load uncertainties on reliability estimation ship hull girders. Structural included randomness in material properties, geometric initial imperfections, corrosion behavior. Load statistical uncertainties, model environmental related nonlinearity. The girder ultimate strength was calculated using Smith’s method, probabilistic density function evaluated by employing Monte Carlo simulations. In estimation, still water bending moment wave-induced were a simplified formula International Association Classification Societies-Common Rules code then modified with parameters. index estimated first-order method considering operating time, duration alternate hold loading condition, severity rate. As result, sagging conditions dominated collapse mode. indexes obtained for observed cases, viability assessed accordingly.

Effects of Common Structural Rules on hull-girder reliability of an Aframax oil tanker
This paper aims at quantifying the changes in notional reliability levels that result from redesigning an existing Aframax tanker to comply with the Common Structural Rules (CSR) for double-hull oil tankers. The probability of structural failure is calculated using the first-order reliability method. The evaluation of the wave-induced load effects that occur during long-term operation of the sh...
متن کاملCONSIDERATION OF DESIGN FOR PRODUCTION PRINCIPLES IN SHIP HULL DESIGN
In designing for ship production, the production method should be considered and it’s possible to reduce the manufacturing cost in designing procedure. A review of background of ship design that had minimized production costs, shows the principles and problems of these methods. Modern designing methods for manufacturing, considers hydrodynamic efficiency and less manufacturing cost. Quant...
متن کاملAutomatic surface modelling of a ship hull
When defining a ship hull surface, the main objective is to obtain a faired surface or surfaces that contain some specific points of the hull, that have been selected in the design process and give the ship its hydrodynamic, stability and other properties. So, the hull surface should be a compromise between fairness and precision, and this is not and easy task. In this paper, authors present a ...
متن کاملUltimate Collapse Strength Assessment of Damaged Steel-Plated Structures
In an unpredictable world where human intervention or unexpected environmental conditions can prevail, damage can occur to manmade structures. Whilst structural design allows for redundancy, or a structural capability beyond the general working load of the structure, it is necessary to be able to analyse and understand the residual capability of a damaged structure to ensure the safety of perso...
متن کاملUltimate Collapse Strength Assessment of Damaged Steel Plated Grillages
Across many industries damage events leading to a breach in structural integrity continue to occur. An area where this can lead to particularly unsafe conditions is in the maritime environment, where it may be difficult to rescue crew and cargo. In order to improve structural safety through design for the survivability or to assess the residual strength of a damaged vessel in an emergency respo...
